Esau’s Right of the Firstborn • Much more than an ordinary birthright • God’s promise to Abraham Gen. 12:1-3; 15:2-5 • Genesis 21:9-13; 22:13-18; Romans 9:6-16 • Through Isaac, not Ishmael Gen. 26:2-5 • Through Jacob, not Esau Gen. 25:21-23 • The birthright and the blessing were connected in the promise to Abraham Heb. 12:15-17; Gen.27:27-29
