  1. “To What Extent Should Internationalism be Pursued?”Photo Essay By: Sandra Grenier

  2. Internationalism – the principle of cooperation between nations for the common good, sometimes contrasted to nationalism. This picture relates to the definition because it shows nations (flags) uniting together. They are clearly working together.

  3. This picture relates to internationalism because there is the Queen of England, who rules one area, and the President of the US Obama. When they come together, it develops a good relationship between their nations that could be beneficial for them in the future.

  4. The question is, “to what extent should internationalism be pursued.” people refer to that when wondering if other nations should be fighting in the war in Iraq, such as Canada. Some say it is our duty to help the other countries, but so many soldiers are dying that maybe internationalism to this extent is too much when it is costing our soldiers lives with no progress.

  5. This picture of Adolf Hitler refers to nationalism because he was an extreme nationalist. (an ultra-nationalist.) he believed his nation was better than everyone else’s. Hitler thought Germany was superior above everyone else, this idea is the opposite of internationalism.

  6. This cartoon ties into the ideas of nationalism and internationalism. It shows two nations working together and sharing, like internationalism, but they appear to be trying to take over the world, which is not for the common good of everyone. One of them is taking a much larger piece of the world than the other.

  7. This cartoon relates to nationalism because it is directly attacking the idea of it. It is showing how nationalism will lead a nation to failure; and that the followers of nationalism have no induvidualism.

  8. This picture relates to the idea of internationalism greatly. It shows people of almost every single race uniting and holding hands. In internationalism, people work together as a team, and in this picture that is what they are doing.

  9. This picture can represent both nationalism and internationalism. Nationalism because “Uncle Sam” represents the United States demanding it’s citizens to go to war to fight. But they were going to war to help out other countries, and that represents the aspect of internationalism.

  10. This picture represents nationalism. It shows different aspects of the nationalism in Europe between 1814-1848. in the bottom you can see a picture of all the soldiers who were basically under total control of the army. They all have their nations flag with them as they walk down the street. Also on the right side there is a map highlighting the certain areas that were taken over by nations such as Britain for their own personal interest.

  11. This picture represents both internationalism and nationalism to me because there appears to be world leaders coming together as a team, but they are ignoring the needs of other people, like the starving child underneath, and only looking out for themselves and making sure that they are okay. So that is an aspect on nationalism.
