The pitch Create a one-page outline of your internship idea Things to include: • Which department or with whom you would prefer to work • The skills you would like to gain • The time frame and time commitment of the internship • What you bring to the party, and • Your openness & flexibility for alternate plans of work.

  5. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! • Make a list of your top 5-10 companies or organizations you would like to work with •  Get to know someone at the organization through phone calls or an informational interview • Be prepared with resume and cover letter

  6. Follow-Up Most Important - Hardest To Do • Emails • Calls • Cards or letters (snail mail) • Drop by, and • Attend things they attend.
