This guide explores the use of the preterite tense in Spanish, focusing on regular -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs, particularly those ending in -gar, -car, and -zar. The preterite tense signifies completed past actions. Key changes occur in the yo form of certain verbs, affecting their spelling while other forms remain regular. Examples include "pagué," "llegué," and "jugué" for -gar, -car, and -zar verbs, and standard endings for regular verbs like "aprendí." Gain clarity on forming and using these verbs in past contexts.
