Polar Information Commons Badge • All contributions have been in the form of the “By Attribution” license. • Badge has been updated as the API changes and added to the AMD/AU and AMD/JP portals. • Records with the PIC badge are being indexed by Google. • Users without appropriate data repositories are encouraged to contribute to the PIC cloud.

PIC Contribution Requirements • “PICCCBY” in Use Constraints field for PIC Badge with Creative Commons attribution license. • Allow others to use the data for any purpose, as long as the original data is attributed to its source. • “PICCC0” in Use Constraints field for PIC Badge with Creative Commons CC0 waiver. • Waive all rights to the data and place it into the public domain.

  32. GCMD-GEOSS Interaction *Records within the GCMD portals are being shared with GEOSS through the CSW and are available in ISO format.

  33. GCMD-GEOSS Interaction • Records in GEOSS host a link back to the original DIF record submitted by each NADC. • Some contributions by the GCMD are being labeled as part of the GEOSS Data-CORE (Data Collection of Open Resources for Everyone), including the AMD/US – NSF/OPP records.

GCMD-GEOSS Interaction • Data-CORE is: “a distributed pool of documented datasets, contributed by the GEO community on the basis of full and open exchange (provided at no more than the cost of reproduction and distribution) and unrestricted access". • Any NADC interested in having their metadata tagged as part of Data-CORE for the GEOSS collaboration may request assistance from the GCMD.
