  1. BENCH PRESS Form and Technique

  2. Why do we do this? -What sports does this lift apply to? -What are some ways improper form can injure someone? -What are some muscle groups that are utilized in this lift?

  3. FORM -Feet flat on the floor -Back and glutes remain on the bench -Grip is slightly wider than shoulder width, making sure the hands are balanced

  4. The Movement -In a slow and controlled motion, lower the bar down the nipple line of the chest -Elbows are angled slightly lower than the shoulders -Inhale on the way down -Bar must touch the chest

  5. The Movement -When the bar hits the chest, push the weight directly back up. -Exhale during the upward movement -Extend arms for full range of motion

  6. Spotting One Person Two Person/Three Person

  7. Incline Bench Press -Variation of Bench Press -Form is similar, but the bench is raised two sections higher to target the pectoral muscles from a different angle -Be sure to push the weight towards the eyes to avoid injury -The weight should hit the chest just below the collarbone
