The state is now all set to adopt a different approach to get rid of the problem so that ground water contamination can be prevented. The technology has been developed by a company based in Maryland named Bioenergy DevCo and will be soon brought to the state of Delaware. The technology will eliminate nutrient laden manure from the waste stream. In the process methane is also captured and converted into natural gas which can be utilized as an energy source. They will process organic material from the Delaware facility. The company has experience of developing similar plants in other parts of Europe. The company said in November last year that they have bought a soil composting plant near Seaford from Perdue farms.

Shawn Kreloff said that the state of Delaware is a prominent poultry producing state and the company is seeing the project as a means of establishing the company in the United States of America after it has completed numerous successful projects in Europe. Kreloff added that their mission is to make anaerobic digestion a de facto solution for the management of organic material in the US. Sustainable agriculture and putting the nutrients back into the soil are some of the major advantages of this initiative. He also added that what to do with poultry manure has been a big problem for everyone since ages and now this solution will clean the waste in a hassle-free manner.
