  3. Grading 1. Grading Scale • A= 100-90 % • B= 89-80 % • C= 79-70 % • D= 69-60 % • F= 59 % or less :( • Grades based on total points. • Any questions, see Mr. Brown. • www.edline.net

  4. Materials Required: • Wide loose leaf binder [at least 2" or larger to be kept at home] --> this will not only be your primary notebook, but you will be creating your own individual “review book” as well and should keep it neat and well-organized, so that you have things at your fingertips. • One small [1"] binder [your "working notebook"] that will be brought to school each day with the materials/homework notes, etc., needed for the current unit being studied. –> include some clean loose leaf paper and some blank, white computer paper in the back. • 3-holed college-lined [narrow-lined] loose leaf. • A yellow-colored highlighter and at least two other colors. • Individual loose leaf tabs/dividers [one for each of about 30 topics, plus one for review sheets

  5. Evaluated Activities • Differentiated homework assignments. • Quizzes. • Chapter/Unit Tests. • Projects and Presentations. • Movie Reviews. • Other writing activities.

  6. 1. Follow instructions the first time they are given. 2. Keep hands, feet and objects to themselves. Consequences:1st incident - A warning will be issued and recorded.2nd incident-Conference and parent contact.Further incidents- Parent contact and appropriate action. Classroom Rules

  7. Students will: 1. Do their own work, follow directions, and bring work to class on time.2. Participate in both individual and group activities in class. Consequences:1st incident - A warning will be issued and recorded.2nd incident-Zero for the assignment.Further incidents- Parent contact and zeros Assignments

  8. Tests • Every test will have at least one essay. The essays must be written in paragraph form and must include supporting details.

  9. Outside assignments are expected to be completed and ready to check when class begins. In class assignments should be completedas instructed. All members in group activities are expected to participate and may be evaluated as a group.Assignments will be posted on Edline. Assignments will be turned in to basket. Homework

  10. Each student may hand in one late assignment per quarter for credit.The late assignment must be handed in by the end of the day it was due. All other late assignments in a quarter will be zeros. Please notethat zero’s are much worse than F’s in grade averaging. Late Work.

  11. Students who miss class because of preplanned absences such as field trips or athletic events are expected to get their assignments and hand in homework on or before the day of the absence. Arrangementsto take quizzes or tests must be made prior to the absence. Failure to follow these procedures will result in zeros for missed work. Pre-planned Absences

  15. World History and Geography Course Description • World History will survey from pre-historic times to the present. Goals are to understand political systems, economic systems ,events, trends, individuals and movements shaping world history. Further we will examine world geography and geography’s effect on societies.
