5. What we will Do this Year • Medieval Europe 5 Things I Bet You Didn't Know About Medieval Europe! The minute, as a measurement of time, didn’t exist. For most of the Middle Ages, clocks rang seven times in a day, not twenty-four. The length of an hour depended on the time of year and where you lived. During the Crusades, ‘fire ships’ were often used – boats whose sole purpose was to be filled with combustibles and steered into enemy fleets.

7. What we will do this Year • WORD WAR II Facts About World War II: A boy of 12 was the youngest serviceman in 1942, it wasn’t until after he was wounded that his real age was discovered. Russia and Japan have never signed an official peace treaty with each other to end World War II. Almost 80% of the males born in the Soviet Union in 1923 did not survive World War II. Russia was also the country with the largest number of causalities, with an estimated 21 million. “Monopoly” board games helped thousands of Allied POWs escape German camps.
