Commitments/ATR: PAB- 2013-14 • CCH engaged Aug 2013 onwards(bank account issue) • Centralised Kitchens increased : 2543 • 4 samples/service provider/ mnth lifted and tested by SRIIR & payment by State Govt(MI recommendation)..now tender to be called • Secy UD/Director Local Bodies: member SLSMC for better coordination amongst 6 implementing agencies eg- Data entry Mid Day Meal, GNCT of Delhi

  7. IMPROVEMENTS/ INITIATIVES: State Committee of Nutritional Experts to review Menu of MDM in respect of input of materials, cost involved and quantity of hot cooked food to be served: increased Halwa Chana  Vegetable Paushtik Dalia Mid Day Meal, GNCT of Delhi

Committee Recommendations: Standard nutritional values can be met neither in the current menu nor in the new proposed menu in the presently served quantity of cooked food Cooked Mid Day Meal has to be made rich and dense by adding extra ingredients in order to meet the standard nutritional values Revised cooked meal quantity and ladle size be prescribed for servings to children Once in a week extra quantity of milk or egg may be provided as a supplement State Govt. may be asked to Top Up

ISSUES: • CCH Centre share released on 29th march 14 only • Honorarium @ Rs.1000/- per month needs review • LPG fund released in Jan and DOE got it on 21st march 14 only • Nutritional experts fund under MME required • Dept. streamlined the enrollment data enrollment decreased from last yr.   16. ISSUES: Attendance/ actual consumption is marked online daily ie real time basis: approx. 62 % Penalty deduction issue settled after very long in this yr SLSMC dt 25 march 14 cooking cost expenditure shall improve..restricted payment till now Mid Day Meal, GNCT of Delhi

Monitoring: • There is intense monitoring system at School, Zone, District and Head Quarter Levels in Delhi to ensure supply of healthy, hygienic, hot & fresh meal to children. • Every HOS of DOE submits MDM data daily on MIS portal. • School Level MDM Committee: HOS, Teacher In-charge MDM, Home Science Teacher, three mothers of students, DDO & one VKS Member. Before distribution of meal, Committee Members taste the food daily and to check any contamination in meal. Mid Day Meal, GNCT of Delhi

Monitoring: • Zonal Level Steering Cum Monitoring Committee : EO, Two Principals, Two Parents and one VKS Member to check the kitchens of the Service Providers and food supplied in schools. • District level committees headed by Dy. Directors of Education: inspections + issue instruction for corrective measures wherever required to maintain the hygienic condition and proper distribution of meal to children. Monitoring: • Zero Tolerance Policy to ensure supply of fresh and hygienic meal to children by Service Providers. • Work orders/contracts of two defaulting Service Providers have been cancelled on supply of contaminated meal in 2013-14. • Mid Day Meal samples are tested by accredited lab for Microbiological and nutritional value (Protein & Calorific) • Food Safety Plan for Mid Day Meal have been prepared and issued by DOE on 20.01.14. School Health Programme: • Under Chacha Nehru SehatYojna, 130 CNSY Teams > 12 lakh children screened, blood samples of > 6.75 lakh children taken for HB and random sugar estimation, 4 Referral Centres for screening designated.. • Main diseases observed:- Anaemia, Refractive errors, Dental/Oral Problems, GIT, Fever/ Headache, RTI… • special screening of children in 98 schools going on in which risk of substance/drug abuse is high..
