  2. The QUALITY of His Blessings: SPIRITUAL(1:3) • God’s GREATEST riches/blessings are not material • God’s GREATEST riches/blessings are spiritual • They have to do with my soul & its eternal destiny

The LOCALITY of His Blessings: IN CHRIST(1:3) • God’s tells me where to find His GREATEST blessings • They are “in Christ” = “in the body of Christ” (1:22-23) • Cannot be enjoyed without being “IN” Christ • God’s tells me how to enter INTO Christ • Have faith in Christ “unto righteousness” (Rom. 10:10) • Repent toward Christ “unto salvation” (2 Cor. 7:10) • Make confession of Christ “unto salvation” (Rom. 10:10) • Be “baptized into Christ” (Gal. 3:27) • Live “your life…hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:3)

The EXCLUSIVITY of His Blessings: EVERY(1:3) • Every single conceivable spiritual blessing is in Christ • Not one of these blessings is found outside Christ • There is “no condemnation” in Christ (Rom. 8:1) • Therefore, all is outside • There is “new life” in Christ (Rom. 6:4; 2 Cor. 5:7) • Therefore, there is no new outside • There are “all promises of God” in Christ (2 Cor. 1:20) • Therefore, there are none outside • There is “eternal life” in Christ (1 John 5:11) • Therefore, there is eternal death outside

The CAUSALITY of His Blessings: GRACE(1:6-8) • The “riches” of His “glorious grace” were “freely bestowed” and “lavished” on us (1:7, 6, 8) • The grace of God PLANNED before the world began to save man (1:4, 5, 11)! • The crucifixion of Christ (1 Pet. 1:20), our salvation (2 Tim. 1:9) and the church (Eph. 3:10-11) were graciously foreordained in the mind of God • The grace of God SUFFERED, BLED & DIED on the propitiatory cross to save man (1:7)! • These riches/blessings are lavished on us through no merit of our own! • Jesus paid the ultimate price (by grace) for us!

  6. The IMMENSITY of His Blessings • I have been “chosen” (1:4) • Not unconditionally but conditionally (Acts 10:34-35) • I have been “adopted” (1:5) • A family relationship with same rights & privileges (Rom. 8:15) • I have been “redeemed” (1:7) • Purchased from the bondage of sin (Rom. 6:17-18; Jn. 8:34; Matt. 20:28; 26:28; 1 Pet. 1:18-19) • I have been “forgiven” (1:7) • Complete removal/pardon of the guilt of sin (Rom. 5:1) • I have been “sealed” (1:13-14) • As a mark of His ownership (“sealed”) and as a first installment deposit (“guarantee”), the Holy Spirit is given to everyone who obeys (Acts 5:32)

  7. I’mRich in Blessings Because I’m a Christian! So What? Now What? • Let’s do all “to the praise of His glory”! (1: 6, 10, 14) • Let’s share “The Riches of Christ” with those who are living in spiritual poverty!
