PALIVE 1 is an epidemiologic study in pediatric critical care medicine aimed at analyzing mechanical ventilation strategies for children diagnosed with Acute Lung Injury (ALI) or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Targeting patients under 18 years old, this research is a collaborative effort across Pediatric Intensive Care Units in Canada, the USA, and Europe, involving the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators Network (PALISI) and the European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC). PALIVE 1 project – Respiratory critical care Overview PALIVE 1 is an epidemiologic study in pediatric critical care medicine. The study's aim is to look at invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation strategies in children with a diagnosis of Acute Lung Injury (ALI) or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The study includes patients less than 18 years old admitted in Pediatric Intensive Care Units in Canada, USA (with the collaboration of the "Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators Network, PALISI") and Europe (in collaboration with "The European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care, ESPNIC" and other scientific societies as the "Groupe Francophone en Réanimation et Urgence Pédiatrique, GFRUP").
