Darling Recruiting Company • There are about 1,700 scholarships available for cadets only (apply at aggiecorps.org), separate from ROTC scholarships • Average yearly cost at Texas A&M is above $20,000 • Average cost of a non-reg vs. a cadet not significantly different, except for: • Haircuts • Dry Cleaning • Uniform rental fees • Uniform Rental Fees • ROTC departments pay for participating cadets’ uniform rentals so long as they are enrolled in the ROTC course and can pass a physical and physical fitness test • Therefore, first two years, the cost of being in the Corps is essentially the same as an average student Scholarships/Cost of the Corps • 22 April 2010 21

Darling Recruiting Company • No Military Obligation by Being the Corps • Do not assume prospects or parents will know this • However, ROTC required for first two years for all cadets • ROTC departments pay for cadets’ uniform rentals • Slightly under half of our cadets commission • others may earn Certificate in Leadership Studies • Scholarship/Contracting Opportunities • Can receive a four-year scholarship • Tuition covered • Monthly stipend (option dependant) • Commissioning opportunities for Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines • Have them contact the ROTC service for more information ROTC Requirements/Opportunities • 22 April 2010 22

Darling Recruiting Company • The Corps is approx. 12% female • (or 2/3 outfits gender-integrated) • State the first when just explaining the Corps as an overview • Only go into the integrated/non-integrated when asked for more info • Our Corps is comprised of about 1700 - 1900 cadets (approx. 200 women) • Aside from service academies, consistently the largest cadet corps in the nation • Commission more officers than any other senior military college • 20% - 25% leave the Corps freshman year (most within the first month) • One of six Senior Military Colleges, only one west of the Mississippi River Important Numbers • 22 April 2010 23

Darling Recruiting Company • Students cannot go into any outfit they choose • Outfits divided based on ROTC affiliation and major • (does not apply to band) • Technical/non-technical majors • Specific outfits for Agricultural, Architecture, and Pre-professional students • Exceptions only made on extreme circumstances • Exceptions must be approved by the Commandant • Many are rejected, so DO NOT set these kids up for that rejection • They might just decide not to join the Corps (CORPS FIRST) • Approved for reasons such as close family legacy or other options How to Choose an Outfit • 22 April 2010 24
