CSB/SJU Student Employment Mission The mission of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University Student Employment Program is to provide financial assistance to students of the colleges through employment opportunities. The program fosters leadership development, substantive employment opportunities, transferable life skills, and personal and career development of student employees. Objectives of CSB/SJU Student Employment Program • To provide a broad range of job opportunities, which will provide leadership, transferable life skills, and personal growth for student employees. • To foster student career development through a variety of employment experiences.

  3. Student Employment Handbook • As a student employee, you must read the student employment handbook. You are responsible for all information in the handbook. • The handbook is available on the student employment website: www.csbsju.edu/student-employment • One hour may be added to your timecard for reading the handbook. Make sure your supervisor knows that you added the hour to your timecard, and what it is for.

  4. Work Awards • Your work award is for the entire academic year, and is the maximum you can earn. • If you decide to decline your work award notify the Student Employment Office. • Please note: If you do not work on campus this year, you will not be eligible to find a job until they open to the waiting list next October.

  5. Finding a Job – Have you found a job? • Yes • Remember to complete a Notification of Hiring (NOH) form, if you have not already done so. • If you were placed in a job you do not need to complete the NOH. • No • All available jobs are posted on the Student Employment jobs website: https://apps.csbsju.edu/sejobs. • Jobs are competitive, so apply for many positions • Proofread your application before submitting

  6. Getting Paid • Payroll is processed once per month • Timecards (paper and electronic) are due by the 1st of the month. • Pay day is about 10 days after timecards are due. • Earnings are directly deposited in an off campus bank account and/or to your campus billing account

  7. Employment Forms • The following employment forms must be completed by your first day of work. You will not be paid until these forms are complete. • Notification of Hiring Form • Student Employment Contract • I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form • To complete the I-9 you will need to bring supporting documents to the Student Employment Office, and they must be original documents (no photocopies) • Direct Deposit Form • W-4 Tax Withholding Form • Billing Account Payroll Deduction Form (Optional) • If you want any of your earnings to go toward your bill, you will need to complete this form • More information about these forms can be found at: http://www.csbsju.edu/Student-Employment/Incoming-Students/Forms-for-Students.htm

  8. Student Employment Leadership Team (SELT) • SELT is partnering with the Inspiring Leaders Certificate Program (ILCP) to offer the Emerald Leadership Certificate. • The Emerald Certificate is designed to provide opportunities for students and student employee supervisors to: enhance personal and professional skills that are workplace expectations; help prepare students for promotions and higher level supervisory positions; develop meaning from work place culture; and, provide assistance in transitioning to work after college. • For more information visit the SELT website: www.csbsju.edu/selt
