  1. JOURNALISM Each slide contains a current even news story. Read each story by clicking the link for each story, and answering the questions for each story on your on sheet of paper. You do not have to write the questions, but label each section as story #1 and number to six, story #2 and number to 6, and so forth. When you are finish with each story, follow the directions on the last slide.

The Knicks? • WHAT celebrities were at the game? • WHEN was the last contest in any major league sport between New York and Brooklyn?

STORY #4 http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/05/embracing-children-for-who-they-are/ • WHAT story about a family and their “different” child provides the opening for this piece?WHAT, according to Jane Brody, should be the goal of parenting?WHAT is Andrew Solomon’s advice for parents? • WHY, according to this article, does “forcing children to follow a prescribed formula” almost always backfire? • WHO is is John Schwartz?WHO is Andrew Solomon? • WHERE else, besides at home, do children need to have their differences embraced, according to Mr. Schwartz? • WHEN in your life did you ever feel different from those around you? • HOW did others make you feel comfortable and welcome?

YOUR STORY Now that you have read the articles, and answered the questions, choose the story that you enjoyed reading about the most and you are to write a 1 page summary of the story that will be published on the btwblog page. Your summary must include the answers to the 6 questions, begin with some kind of lead statement, and close with a thought provoking statement for your reader. This may be done on the same paper as your news story questions.
