  1. Focus: What do the journeys of Marco Polo and IbnBattuta reveal to us about travel during the PaxMongolica (1200’s-1300’s)? The readings for this assignment come from “The Human Record” Volume 1 located on back book shelf. Please have map available. ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE RECORDED ON THE NOTE SECTION OF YOUR HOMEWORK. I will collect this when I return on Friday. Half of your group should read about Marco Polo (p. 431-435) and the other half should read about IbnBattuta (p. 445-450). (15 minute silent reading). For your assigned character you should make note of: A. place of origin B. their motivations for travel, C. what they did on their journey D. the conditions of travel E. their impressions of the people and places they encountered. Once you have completed 1 and 2 above, you should share and exchange your responses with the other group members so that you have the information from 3 above in your notes. *Bonus: Compare and contrast these travelers.
