  3. Response function • Realistic simulation of the CPC efficiency due to non-gaussian tail (~2%) from SPS data (to do list and nobody here). • Effect of the magnetic field on the reponse function: pad mutiplicity, spatial shift, ... (nobody here).

  4. Geometry Unique definition of the MUON geometry. Envelop method from Ivana Hrivnacova. Global Interface for MUON Geometry. 3D positionning of chambers. Aligment with physics (in the to do list). Geometry in/for segmentation & reconstruction (to do list).. Ph.D E.Dumonteil Sep 04

Reconstruction & ESD • Updating the new clusterizer algorithm (better invariant mass resolution at background level 2) • Updating the Kalman filter for tracking . • In the to do list and to be done by Alexander Zinchenko during his 6 month stay @ Subatech end of this year. • MUON adapted to the new reconstruction and simulation framework. MUON are in ESD, AoD underdevelopment. Splitting the code in sim, common and reconstruction.

I/O and MUON Data • New I/O ready • galice.root (smal size) conected to Kinematics#.root, TrackRef#.root, MUON.Hits#.root, MUONS.SDigits.root, MUON.Digits.root, MUON.RecPoints#.root, MUON.Track#.root, AliESD.root • New Sdigit level for merging. • MUON data structure slightly modified and managed by the class AliMUONData and AliMUONDataInterface. • New data link objects to come soon (in the to do list, Artur and Bruce workingon this subject)

  7. RAWDATA & Calibration & Mapping & HLT • MUON rawdata format to be defined (Alicenote). Generation of rawdata from Digits needed for HLT developments (in progress). • Mapping framework to be developped. Clever mapping modularity : sectors, PCB, slats, trigger chambers, buses, cathodes, chambers, stations etc ... Important for calibration, channel disable, mapping evolution, etc ... Alice technical note in preparation. • Starting to think about calibrating one million of channels.

Geometry Geometry Config: • 14 envelops for detections planes • 226 envelops for detection elements (sector, slats, trigger chambers) • Absolut Id for each detection element. • Geometry config file will be generated by aliroot (expected position of detection elements), Alignment code (with and without magnetic field, and the Geometry Monitoring System. Geometry Methods: • GlobalToLocal • LocalToGlobal • New data members in AliMUONHit and AliMUONDigit IdDetectionElement , IdSegment

  14. Conclusions • Geometry configuration and framework • RawData structure v0 for MUON and generation of from Digits for HLT studies. RawData definition (alice technical note) • Framework for mapping and segmentation (alice tehcnical note in preparation). To be coded from sep04. • Dimuon Net workshop in Clermont December 13th-15th, Physics of heavy flavors. • Next dimuon net workshop in Nantes May-04, devoted to software developments. • Muon offline manpower is critical • Linux and linux
