  2. Directions • Step One • For each statement, choose to either Agree or Disagree. You cannot be in the middle. • This needs to be done INDIVIDUALLY in order to preserve the integrity of the activity. • Defend your responses with ½ a page of writing each. You have 4 minutes per statement

  3. Directions • Step Two • Statements will appear one at a time on this screen. • If you have marked “A” for agree, display your red cup. • If you have marked “D” for disagree, display your blue cup.

  4. Statement One • Women need friends more than men do.

  5. Statement Two • Believing that an unhappy situation is only temporary makes it more bearable.

  6. Statement Three • Feeling responsible for someone can be a burden.

  7. Statement Four • A true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it.

  8. Statement Five • Being rich is more important than having close friends.

  9. Statement Six • It is more acceptable for women to love their female friends than it is for men to love their male friends.

  10. Statement Seven • Dreaming is for dreamers, and dreamers go nowhere. Be real.

  11. Statement Eight • Sometimes a person has to break the law to make sure justice is served.

  12. Statement Nine • There are times when euthanasia (mercy killing) can be justified.

  13. Statement Ten • People that are poor should rely on their friends, family, or church for help, not the government.

  14. Directions • Step Three • Choose the two (2) statements that you feel most strongly about (agree or disagree). • Using your ideas and the ideas presented by your classmates, outline an argument for each of your positions on the sheet provided.
