  6. Home reading books • Are their own choice from an appropriate selection of books • Discussion is as important as reading • Some books may challenge the children more than others • Some days they may require more support than others

  7. Home reading books Children can change their books daily but as the books get longer the children may need to change them less frequently.

  8. Maths Children will investigate a variety of maths problems linked to everyday life.

  9. What else will your child learn in Year 2? • Half termly or termly themes covering all areas of the curriculum • Overviews will be sent to you showing what the children will be doing • Your expertise/knowledge is very welcome in the classroom

  10. Parent helpers Always welcome!

  11. Homework • Choice from a selection of topic based and maths activities • Fun and designed to involve you • Common exception words/Timestables

  12. Home/School Liaison Books • Used in the same way as in Year One • Check daily for messages • Still feel free to come and talk, preferably after school.

  13. National Curriculum Tests • During the month of May, the children will be taking the end of KS1 tests. There will be two maths papers, two reading papers and a SPAG test. We will be monitoring their writing throughout the year.

  14. Parent Consultation evening – which is 14th November 3.30pm to 8.00pm
