  1. Closing remarks Jacques DELINCE Agriculture Unit, JRC Ispra

  2. Technology for controls • CwRS remains a priority for the Commission • Top priority - area checks • Decreased priority - crop identification (replaced by cross compliance?) • New sensors - starting to emerge • Validation need - to be operational • Method development - better described, better informed • New contracting agreements • Certification of equipment and field procedures initiated by JRC

  3. Image allocation • 2008 budget - will impose restrictions vs request • 2nd yr that this has happened • Allocation criteria and planning calendar will be reviewed (for next year) • JRC will help optimise MS plans and inform DG AGRI of recommendations • Parameters for assessing this are sensitive

  4. Data sharing • Spain has demonstrated close collaboration with other bodies: FEGA/MAPA/IGN/DGC • We can still learn - USDA services, establishment of interdepartmental agreements (PL, moving forward) • Sharing with all stakeholders - inc. farmers - should underpin Farm Advisory Services • Future: EU initiatives (GMES, CID image server) promise to improve availability of satellite data

  5. Inspire • Examples of adoption of formal approaches for SDI development prominent • Some MS already active at national level of implementation (positive!) • Core model for agriculture policy domain and the LPIS “low hanging fruit” - easily within reach • How should we organise ourselves to progress? • LPIS update can be opportunity for this action • Road-map proposal to be circulated to SDIC (others in cc) for comment and reaction

  6. Congratulations and thanks • To our Spanish partner! • Mars PAC team - especially Hervé Kerdiles - for helping with the organisation and programme • Our industry partners • The interpreters!
