  1. Impending Doom Tiffany Chao Carmen Leung Diana Lin

  2. Question Steve was on the Revelation, having the time of his life. He paid the extra fee and waited a fair amount of time for his turn. Unfortunately, during the eighth revolution, there was a safety malfunction, causing him to fly right out of his seat!

  3. Lucky for him, the emergency response team at Playland is very well trained. They react immediately, suspending a net (3.00m in diameter) where they estimated Steve would land, 90.0m away (horizontally from his point of release). Unlucky for him, they’re only mediocre in Physics, so their estimate may be unreliable. What is Steve’s fate?!

  4. If one revolution is 12.57s, what is Steve’s initial velocity?

  5. Will Steve land safely in the net? If he meets his impending doom, by how many meters does he miss the net? Does he fall short, or does he pass the net? What is his final velocity? (Hint: include angle) Diagram on next slide.

  6. The average human body can withstand 5.00 g’s and survive, and some fighter pilots can even withstand 9.00 g’s! If Steve decelerates (to a stop) over a vertical displacement of 2.75m and a horizontal displacement of 2.17m, does Steve survive or die on impact?
