  2. OPEN HOUSE Case studyreport Project RS.2 Project description The building was completed on 2005. and it is located in the downtown of city Knjaževac, in pedestrian zone. The building has 3 main floors and an attic. Building is 100% office, with heating/cooling system based on heat pump. Type of construction is brick and concrete. Floor plan • Main sustainability aspects: • Aspect 1 – heating/cooling system based on renewable energy sources • Aspect 2 – south oriented part of the roof used for solar panels Section

  5. OPEN HOUSE Case studyreport Project RS.2 Special issue Description The special aspect of the assessment, that is of particularly interest is ONTOLOGY, especially for external evaluators. Namely, for all indicators, in particular for Process Quality, Technical Characteristics, and Social/Functional Quality, consistent dictionary of terms, i.e. Thesaurus in Building Engineering and Architecture, based on (IFC) ontology, would significant improve and accelerate the process of assessment. Thesaurus, supported by SQL data base, would speed up searching for terms and expressions in this field. LCA assessment, with quick searching engine, would be much easier. Of course, all this would be possible with completely digitalized documents and drawings, what is unfortunately not the case in our example.

  6. OPEN HOUSE Case studyreport Project RS.2 Feedback: summary of main issues - Cons/Problems + Pros/Advantages • Online platform (excellent idea, ontology to be applied, Thesaurus – data base to be implemented), • Online Assessment tool (Ontology, Thesaurus), • Assessment Package , • Assessment methodology (categories, indicators, sub-indicators), - to be developed more preciselly, • Scoring system (weighting, benchmarking, etc.), • Documentation requirements (to be generated automatically ), • Time required for the assessment (to be reduced by thesaurus of terms and some optimizations, i.e. redundancy in some questions ), • LCA online tool (some data and ontology problems, SQL data base and thesaurus to be applied).

  7. OPEN HOUSE Case studyreport Project RS.2 Feedback: suggestions for refinement • ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (Suggestion: Dictionary of terms – Ontology, then refinement of criteria); • TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS (Suggestion: Dictionary of terms – Ontology, then refinement; • ECONOMIC QUALITY (SQL baza, interactive search, thesaurus of terms); • SOCIAL/FUNCTIONAL QUALITY (Suggestion: Ontology based dictionary, then refinement); • PROCESS QUALITY (Suggestions: Dictionary based on ontology, IFC application, data base, then refinement).
