  3. Young Jackie Jackie Robinson was born on January 3,1919 in Cairo, Georgia. When Jackie’s parents divorced, they moved to Pasadena, California. He was the youngest out of 5 kids. He went to Cleveland Elementary School.

  7. MAJOR LEAGUE • Branch Rickey – President of the Brooklyn Dodgers. • First African American on a white team • Played first game at Ebbets Field with Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947 • Branch Rickey believed in Jackie • Led the Dodgers to 6 World Series and one World Series Championship.

  10. An American Hero Even though Jackie died in October 24, 1972, people will never forget what he did to help the African American people become and feel part of our society. Jackie starred in the film, “The Jackie Robinson Story” in 1950. Recently, they filmed a movie called “42” which tells about the life Jackie led.
