Research paper on Thematic Quest Due on turnitin.com 5 September 2013
Locate at least two articles on quests • Use the Alabama Virtual Library • Click College and University resources • Click Literature Resources from Gale
Develop definition of a quest • Briefly review the first few paragraphs of articles that discuss specific instances of a quest. • Note any general statements or characteristics. • You may want to keep a dialectical journal. Copy the quote on one side with a brief citation. On the other side, explain why it is important.
Write a thematic statement • Using the formula (Subject, transitive verb, direct object) we discussed in class, write a statement. • It should involve the idea of a quest.
Introduction • Begin with your thematic statement. • Write two quotation sandwiches about quests in general
Body • Use three or four quotation sandwiches to explain how The Poisonwood Bible is an example of a question. • You may use your quotation journals to shorten the search, but you may NOT take them from the room.
Conclusion • Do NOT restate the thesis or the introduction. • Talk more about what was learned by the character(s) on the quest. • A conclusion should be the final revelation and reflect on the subject in a new light.
