Current Progress • Latest FED throttle signals tested with APVE • Sent triggers ~10 times the rate at which events were read out • 1,000,000 triggers sent, throttle status behaved as expected, events received without problems (Repetitive and Random triggers tested) • Now using a FED Tester to drive FED with optical signals… But: • FT cannot accept FED throttle signals yet (waiting for a new FT daughter board to be finished) • FT currently not compatible with APVE, so APVE temporarily removed from system (relatively straight-forward APVE firmware fix, when Greg returns) • Currently only driving 1 FED FE Unit • Have successfully calibrated FT outputs to FED inputs James Leaver

Optical Tests • FED in Virgin Raw mode: • 10 kHz Repetitive triggers • Blank frames (with Gaussian noise) • Driving 1 FE Unit • Sent 1,000,000 triggers: • 1,000,000 events received via Slink • All events were of the correct size • No FED lockups • 791 words per event  ~60 Mbytes/sec. • Cannot look at received frames yet… James Leaver

Optical Tests • FED in Zero Suppressed mode: • 100 kHz Repetitive triggers • Blank frames (with Gaussian noise) • Driving 1 FE Unit • Sent 10,000,000 triggers: • 10,000,000 events received via Slink • All events had the same size (blank frames) • No FED lockups • 29 words per event  ~21 Mbytes/sec • Cannot look at received frames yet – but blank frames not a very good test, anyway… James Leaver

In progress • Currently trying to write software to analyse frames sent via Slink when optical inputs used • Need to run longer tests, and with Random triggers, to check FED stability (when throttle is enabled on FT) • Need to use more realistic frame data to test Zero Suppressed mode • Need to design new Slink transition card, with FED throttle output James Leaver
