  1. MTPST 2013 MTPST 2013 MTPST 2013 MTPST 2013 About the institute The Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai (formerly UDCT) has grown to become a premier (deemed) University dedicated to education, training, research and industrial collaboration in chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, applied physics, pharmacy and biotechnology. ICT was established on October 1, 1933, with the specific intention of enhancing India’s scientific manpower in chemical science and technology. It was granted autonomy by the UGC in 1985, and finally converted to a deemed-to-be University by MHRD in 2008. In 2012, it was awarded Elite Status and declared as a Centre of Excellence by the Government of Maharashtra. Currently, ICT has 1080 undergraduate, 319 postgraduate and 547 doctoral students. (More information at www.ictmumbai.edu.in ) About the department The Department of Physics at ICT has the distinction of being one of the earliest Departments in the Institute. It was started as Optics Section in 1935 which was subsequently changed to Applied Physics Section and then to Department of Physics. The Department contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Institute. In addition, the Department has several research facilities, and the faculty members are engaged in active research in diverse areas of Physics. The Department intends to start a new M. Sc. (Physics) programme from the year 2013. Workshop on MODERN TRENDS IN POLYMER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MTPST 2013) (03-04 April, 2013) Under the Auspices of TEQIP Organised by DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS Institute of Chemical Technology (Deemed University under Sec 3 of UGC Act 1956, Elite Status and Centre of Excellence – Govt. of Maharashtra) N. Deshpande Convenor, MTPST 2013. mtpst2013@gmail.com • ABOUT THE WORKSHOP • India is witnessing rapid advances in the design, fabrication, processing and manufacturing of polymeric materials. Scientists, engineers and technologists are engaged in exploring the diverse structural, mechanical and thermal properties of these materials for a wide spectrum of applications ranging from commercial use to defence. • The objective of this workshop is to deliberate on the latest trends with specific focus on processing and structure-property relationships. It is also essential to bring about a more synergetic and interactive approach to the exchange of knowledge of the latest developments among eminent persons working in industry and academia. It is expected that the deliberations and discussions among the two groups will generate new and novel ideas in the processing of polymeric materials and their properties for specific applications. • Specific topics to be covered include – • Polymer physics and chemistry • Polymer blend rheology • Polymer processing • Structure-property relationship • Nano-scale characterisation • Polymer modeling and simulation • Applications to textiles • Applications to surface coating technology Workshop on MODERN TRENDS IN POLYMER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MTPST 2013) (03-04 April, 2013) (Please mail to the coordinators by 27thMar, 2013 E-mail: mtpst2013@gmail.com ) Name of the participant :____________________ ________________________________________ Name of the Institute :______________________ ________________________________________ Address: ________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________ Phone: __________________________________ Mobile: _________________________________ E-mail: _________________________________ ________________________________________ ADVISORY COMMITTEE Prof. G.
