  2. KIF Spring 2012 Sermon Series - Ephesians A Worthy Walk(Being different)

  3. Ephesians 4:20-24 What is the secret to a successful Christian life? 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  4. Ephesians 4:20-24 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  5. Matthew 5:17-20 We are a newly created race. We are to be different. 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

  6. Ephesians 4:22-30 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;  23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;  24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

  7. No one likes to be different. “The hardest thing to do in life is to be yourself” “A huge part of stress doesn‘t come from being myself. It comes when I am actually trying to be like everyone else” Being Different is about being who you are

  8. 『嘘も方便』 『正直者が馬鹿を見る』 『嘘吐きは泥棒の始まり』 Movie: Liar, Liar Types of Lies Telling what ain’t so Exaggerating Shading the truth Cheating Sitting in silence when truth should be spoken LYING Liars Lie. Liars go to heaven but people who go to heaven aren't liars. ME

  9. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. • Truth in relationship with God • It’s about you, not others Luke 18:10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’   13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ 14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

  10. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. • Truth in relationship with God • It’s about you, not others • Honesty with God about ME

  11. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. • Truth in relationship with others • Only that which edifies • Speaking the truth is not about hanging out our dirty laundry • Speaking the truth in love • Not to be about ME • Promoting ME • Protecting ME Acts5:3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”

  12. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. • Truth in relationship with others • Only that which edifies • Speaking the truth is not about hanging out our dirty laundry • Speaking the truth in love • Not to be about ME • Promoting ME • Protecting ME Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

  13. Ephesians 4:15Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
