  2. Special/Visual Effects Used to create the impression of something happening on screen that is otherwise too difficult/dangerous/physically impossible to otherwise achieve. Used heavily in Science Fiction / Fantasy films Equal place in Action / Adventure films Quite often utilised further in other genres to enhance the viewer’s experience and strengthen whatever settings/impressions the movie is trying to give.

  3. Physical effects used on location and captured by the camera. Can be an optical effect (eg. multiple exposures) Can be a mechanical effect (eg. Props, scenery, models, prosthetics, atmospheric and pyrotechnic effects. The difference Special Effects

  4. Refers to any digital post-production: Compositiong of live action and computer-generated imagery (CGI) Most created with animation and compositing software. Encompasses composition, matte painting, keying, texturing, rotoscoping and animatronics. The difference Visual Effects

  7. Safety Safety is of prime concern when recording any shots including special effects. A Risk Assessment form is a good way of proving that safety considerations have been observed.
