Medford SEPAC Medford Special Education Parent Advisory Council Medford SEPACStandard Operating Procedures▫ The role of SEPAC is based on our interpretation of Chapter 71B.▫Medford SEPAC is a school-based parent organization that is part of Medford PublicSchools.▫ Medford SEPAC organization and membership follows the policy, procedure and guidelines set up by the City of Medford, Medford School Committee, and the school organizations in which we conduct our business.▫ As a school-based organization, Medford SEPAC will go through the appropriate school channels to utilize the administrative school organizations when seeking information, advice and legal counsel.

  7. Medford SEPAC Medford Special Education Parent Advisory Council ▫ Medford SEPAC… - May work with MPS’s Finance department to set up an account as a school organization. - Cannot conduct fundraisers under it’s name. - May accept donations. - May apply for grants.

  8. Medford SEPAC Medford Special Education Parent Advisory Council ▫ In order to conduct fundraising, members of Medford SEPAC can create a “Friends of Medford SEPAC” which would be a private, non-profit corporation through the State of Massachusetts. All fundraising must be conducted in the name of “Friends of Medford SEPAC”. ▫ The organization, Medford SEPAC, cannot obtain membership through independent advocacy organizations that may create a conflict of interest (e.g. SPEDWatch).

  9. Medford SEPAC Medford Special Education Parent Advisory Council The hard copy records of current and previous Medford SEPAC boards will be housed in and not removed from the office of Medford Public School’s Director of Pupil Services. This will be hard copy Public Record.
