  2. What is a yearbook? • A photo album • A face book • A history book • A public record • The one book you’ll bring to college • The book you’ll show your kids • A salable – and expensive - product • A lasting memory of high school

  3. A Responsibility • As you can see, yearbook is pretty important • We have a big responsibility to do a good job

  4. Elements of Yearbook Production • Publication • Managing Page Production (144 full color pages) • Writing • Photography and Artwork • Graphic Design and Layout • Business • Managing Budget ($20,000) • Selling Books • Selling Ads • Designing Ad Pages • Students can be involved in both elements

  10. Your Homework Assignment • Begin to think about developing your own personal design aesthetic. • Bring in one example of a graphic design that you think we could use as inspiration for design in this year’s book. • Katie will begin the inspiration book tomorrow.

  11. Brainstorming and Log in • Get into small groups to brainstorm your goals for this year’s yearbook • Have one member of each group be a scribe • We will continue with this tomorrow • If time allows, we can start getting our log in names for the course website, www.yearbookavenue.com. • By tomorrow’s class, we should all have these so we can begin to learn how to use the program that will create our yearbook.
