Mrs. Hoover in a Nutshell • Born and raised in Vienna, Austria • Taught at Spreckels Elementary for 6 years and Tular for 4 years. • 4th grade for 9 years • Mother of 22 year old daughter, Chelsea, and 19 year old son, Kelvin • Grandmother of Levi (almost 2 years old) • Married 24 years • I ride my horse, Kiowa, as often as I can, and love to sail.

Rules and Rewards Student of the Month Criteria • All Homework: neat/complete/on-time • Appropriate classroom behavior • Appropriate playground behavior • Appropriate behavior in pull-out classes • Library books returned ON TIME – responsibility (instruments, PE clothes, etc.). • Exemplifies “Pillars of Character”

  9. Consequences Behavioral Consequences • Verbal Warning • Reminder… Green Card covered by Yellow Card • Red Card = 5 minutes loss of recess • Blue Card = Lunch Detention and Parent phone call • Pink Slip = Parent phone call or conference

Typical Nightly Homework • Homework is posted weekly on our classroom calendar online: http://www.carmelunified.org/tularcitos/site/default.asp • Students write down homework into their planners daily… please check • Read forA.R. books: Mon – Thurs (15 min.) • Math Page • Language Arts: Iconic Prompt Journal – 1 icon • Miscellaneous – Science / Social Studies interactive textbook pages, reports/projects (usually completed in class).

  11. Teacher – Parent Communication • Grade report sent home periodically. • Completed / corrected student work is sent home every 3 – 4 weeks.
