  2. Sector Northern New England 2010 Spill of National Significance Exercise: On March 24-25, 2010 over 600 people converged from 50 different agencies for SONS 2010. Some specifics: - Effective on water deployment: 10+ multi-agency oil spill response vessels/100+ crew, shore equipment - Partnered with ME IFW, executed first ever volunteer registration program during an exercise. Registered/trained 70 volunteers in wildlife handling - Extensive VIP and observer program - Extensive positive coverage by local media and several national commercial industry publications AAR Conference to be held in Portsmouth, NH 11-12 MAY

Sector Northern New England F/V Frankie Joe Response: 1 Year + interaction with vsl, 2 owners in Boothbay Harbor, Portland ME - MEP - SAR - LE Federalized case, removed 1000+ gallons of oily bilgewater, hazardous materials Boothbay Harbor is currently implementing a judicial order to dispose of vessel

Sector Northern New England Boom Deployment Exercises: Sector staff and detachments completed 4 cold water boom deployments late last fall More deployments scheduled for this CY: - Larger amounts of boom deployed - Closer engagement with partners: - MSD Portsmouth/Piscataqua River Co-Op - MSD Belfast/ME DEP in Eastport

Sector Northern New England Seal Island Update: Seal Island is a known munitions site previously used by the DoD RRT held an incident specific meeting in September 2009 to address Seal Island and public concerns over CG limited access area The group advocated removing zone in the interim & educating the public on the dangers of the area USACOE is currently evaluating whether updating the current DoD exclusion area in place will increase safety. Sector continues assist.

  7. Sector Northern New England EPA Rolnick Site Brewer, ME: Sector FOSCRs/PIs assisted EPA OSCs with oversight of removal action along Penobscot River over 2 month period Great success – increased interagency partnership and great learning experience for Sector pollution responders

Sector Northern New England Lake Champlain Spill Conference: September 16, 2010 Currently seeking agency representatives that have jurisdiction for a spill on Lake Champlain Goal is to discuss agency authorities, roles, jurisdiction, mutual aid, and ICS unified command integration From: USGS & Lake Champlain Research Consortium
