  3. Basic Training for Future Craft Professionals Purpose • To provide a vehicle to bring new individuals into the construction and maintenance industry. Provide for accelerated training to include NCCER’s core modules (including soft skills), basic safety, introduction to craft specific tasks, and a formal mentoring program.

  6. Basic Training for Future Craft Professionals June Pilot Session - Update • Of the original 27 Participants, 23 are still on the job and attending craft training classes. August Session – Update • Of the original 28 Participants, 28 completed training and are working on sites and attending craft training classes.

Basic Training for Future Craft Professionals Lessons Learned • Added more “hands on” training • Reviewing Mentor Program to bring mentors into process at the beginning of training as this piece of the program has had a positive impact on new hires. • Looking at avenues to keep trainees engaged and provide opportunities for recognition.

Texas Workforce Commission Grant between CMEF and Lee College • Lee College and CMEF received a Skills Development Fund Grant for $780,279. • Grant will focus on incumbent workers craft training, and performance verification. • Impact to CMEF Budget is estimated to be approximately 35% of tuition expenses over the next 18 months.
