CBD Acts as an Antipsychotic: Nectar CBD

Contrary to popular belief, the hemp plant does not induce a “high” feeling. The cannabis plant, of the genus cannabis sativa, by definition, includes both hemp and marijuana; these plants are comprised of many chemical compounds, called cannabinoids. When people get “high” from using marijuana, for example, it’s the effect of the prominent psychoactive cannabinoid THC in the marijuana plant. THC is known to induce anxiety and psychotic-like symptoms. Some marijuana plants, or strains, are developed to have high levels of THC to be used for this purpose.

CBD Acts as an Antipsychotic: Nectar CBD Contrary to popular belief, the hemp plant does not induce a “high” feeling.  The cannabis plant, of the genus cannabis sativa, by definition, includes both hemp and marijuana; these plants are comprised of many chemical compounds, called cannabinoids.

CBD Acts as an Antipsychotic: Nectar CBD To better understand the anxiolytic and antipsychotic effects of CBD, scientists at the University of São Paulo in Brazil collected research studies and clinical trials regarding the subject matter. Research subjects included both animals and human volunteers.  They observed that while THC induces anxiety and psychosis, those effects were greatly reduced by administering CBD. After studying the compiled research, they deduced that CBD shows anxiolytic and/or antipsychotic properties, stating that “the antipsychotic-like properties of CBD have been investigated in animal models using behavioural and neurochemical techniques which suggested that CBD has a pharmacological profile similar to that of atypical antipsychotic drugs.” Read More...
