  2. Welcome and Expectations • Introductions • Guidelines: • Be respectful of others • Don’t type messages during class unless asked (I can see ALL private messages….) • Pay attention : - ) • Arrive on time • Attend all tutorials

  3. Communication and Organization I am so excited about the year ahead!!! Work hard…. Let me know how you are doing…. I am flexible and fair, so just keep me informed… Keep your key parent informed….

  4. Introductions… • Teacher Introduction • Taught for 15 years • Love music and my favourite band is the Beatles. • Have 3 sons (Dylan, Keaton and Quinton) • I love to swim and run and I am training for a triathlon • Time to introduce yourself to the class. Say your name and mention ONE thing about yourself to your classmates.

  5. Tutorial (Specifics) • Count for 10% of your final mark. • You will receive a 2 if you attend and participate, a 1 for simply attending and a 0 for an unexcused absence. • I MAY be covering material in the tutorials that you may not see in the lessons themselves. • Feel free to email me at any time and ask any questions that you needto.

  6. Procedures for Missed Tutorials • If you have missed a tutorial please complete the following: 1.Watch the tutorial archive. 2. Correct your work with the answers we took up in class. 3.Write a paragraph to me with the main points of the tutorial. 4. Each tutorial is out of 2 marks. If I don't hear from you, you will earn a "miss" or zero.

  7. Lessons – assignments • Lessons are posted in D2L under the content link. • Lesson assignments or exercises will fluctuate depending on what unit we are working on. Remember, you need to be attending to language arts for 5 hours a week. Some lessons may be shorter and contain more theory, others may be longer. Remember….read each lesson carefully. • I am updating and adding to lessons, so please do not work more than 2 weeks ahead at this time! Ask if you MUST!!

  11. Vocabulary and Grammar • Throughout the course • Located in the content area under Grammar and Vocabulary section • Meant to enhance the current unit we are working in.

  13. On-site Tutorials • Scheduled throughout the year. • Meet as a group once per month (September 29th first date) • An opportunity to work collaboratively • Please try to make these sessions • We will NOT have an Elluminate session the weeks we meet on-site

  14. Need help??? • If you need help, send a detailed email that has the word “question” or ? symbol in the subject heading along with the course title (eg. LA9 ?) • Be specific – on what lesson are you working and where are you stuck? • Do NOT wait until an assignment is due, and then send it to me saying, “I don’t get it.” Ask for help as the problem arises. • When time permits, I will stay at the end of a tutorial session to answer individual questions.
