  3. Slide 2 – School year 2013-14 Background Slade Green Primary School is: • 3 form-entry Infant school in the process of converting to 2FE primary. In September, the school will welcome its first cohort of Year 3 pupils • Located in an area of high deprivation and serving a community with a high percentage of workless parents. • The percentage of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium is 50.9% which is significantly higher than the national average • The percentage of pupils from an ethic minority background is significantly higher than national (41.7%) and has increased in recent years • Pupil outcomes are below national but attainment has improved in recent years • The school is currently expanding in size and a building programme which is taking place has had a considerable impact on the running of the school Successes • Implementation of RWI: - accelerated progress and raised standards in reading, writing and phonics - improved pace of lessons and increased pupil enjoyment - developed the role of support staff • Improved provision in EYFS has led to significantly improved pupil outcomes • Formative marking is helping pupils make gains in their learning Developments • Continue to secure more teaching that is consistently good or better in all year groups • Implement the new National Curriculum in KS1 & 2 • Further develop the role of middle leaders to include quality assurance and observation David Snow Anglican Schools Partnership
