  3. Common Strategies cont. Keep children engaged and actively involved in the learning process through hands-on activities

  4. Common strategies… Use Signals to refocus students’ attention Hmm… Must be free time Examples: • Raise your hand and students follow suit • Switch light on and off • Call and Response

  5. Common Strategies… Disruptive Students • Should sit separately from each other While in the process of disruptive behavior • Use eye contact • Stand near the student(s) • Ask them questions about the lesson • If necessary, involve parents

  6. Common Strategies cont. Take time to say hello or talk to students in the hallway or after class
