  3. You Are Checking-In an Item.What is it? Book Interlibrary Loan ETMC equipment OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  4. Checking-In a Book Select “Check in” in Millennium. Scan book barcode. Did you get a message? YES NO OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  5. Checking-In ETMC Equipment Select “Check in” in Millennium. Scan the item barcode. Read the message pop up. Check for all batteries/ cables. Return item to the proper shelf. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  6. Checking-In a Book You did not get a message! This book is shelved at the ETMC Sensitize the book. Place the book on the appropriate shelving cart. If the book is ours (not a Juvenile book) shelve it yourself. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  7. Checking-In a Book You got a transit message! This book is shelved at another Library, and you need to send it there. Click on the “put in transit to (name of) Library. Print the transit slip. Fold transit slip sideways and place in book. Put book in the white bin for pickup. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  8. What Are You Checking Out? Equipment Book Hold Item Interlibrary Loan OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  9. Checking-Out Equipment Check the imacical for reservation status. If there is not already an entry for this patron’s checkout, Create a new reservation. Scan the patron’s JAC or type their name in Millennium. Scan the item barcode. Tell the patron the due date. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  10. Checking-Out a Book Scan the patron’s JAC or type their name in Millennium. Scan the item barcode. Tell the patron the book’s due date. Desensitize the book. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  11. Checking-Out an Interlibrary Loan The book is on the Hold Shelf. Hand the ILL item to the patron. This book does not need to be checked out in Millennium. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  12. Checking-Out a Hold Item Scan the patron’s JAC or type their name in Millennium. Scan the item barcode. Tell the patron the book’s due date. Desensitize the book. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  13. What question does the patron have about their account? Which items do they have checked out? Want to pay fines Renew items OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  14. Which Items do they have checked out? Select Circulation Desk in the Millennium Menu. Swipe their JAC or enter their name in the barcode box. Click on the “Checked out items” tab. Here you will see a list of items they have checked out. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  15. Renewing Items Do you have the item to be renewedin front of you? Yes No OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  16. They Did Not Bring the Book With Them Select Circulation Desk in the Millennium menu. Swipe their JAC or enter their name in the barcode box. Click on the “Checked-Out Items” tab. Here you will see a list of items they have checked out with due dates. Select the box to the left of each item. Click the “Renew” button. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  17. They Brought the Book in for Renewal Select the “Renew” button on the Millennium menu. Scan the item barcode. Tell the patron the new date. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  18. Paying Fines Select Circulation Desk in the Millennium Menu. Swipe their JAC or enter their name in the barcode box. Select the “Fines” tab (you will see their total fines amount on this tab). Enter your personal password when prompted. Select the little box to the left of the item entry. Click the “Collect Money” box. Verify the amount being paid today. Print a receipt. Put cash or check to JMU in the cash register. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  19. Creating a New Patron record Only Jessica and Grad Students have authorization for this function. 1) Look at the chart on the imac cabinet door for patron types and materials needed to create records. 2) Most new patrons need to bring a Massanutten Regional Library Card and a current ID with their address on it. 3) Ask for a current email address and telephone number. NEXT! OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  20. Creating a New Patron record 1) In Millennium, go to Circulation Desk. 2) Click on the “New” button at the top of the window. 3) “_p: Patron default” is highlighted. Click the “Select” button. 4) Change the default expiration year to next year. Example: It will say 05-31-11, change it to 05-31-12 5) P Type: Double click on the white field. Pick the correct Patron type. Most likely you will select “6 Community Borrowers”. Click “Next” 6) N PATRON NAME: Enter their name “LAST NAME, FIRST NAME”. 7) A ADDRESS: Enter the address on their ID. ALL CAPS. 8) T TELEPHONE: Enter their telephone number. No spaces or symbols. Click next 9) H ADDRESS2: Do not enter anything here. Click “Next”. 10) T TELEPHONE2: Do not enter anything here. Click “Next” 11)P BARCODE: Enter their new barcode. See the patron type sheet for details. Most likely you will enter “MRL9999999 (the last 7 digits of their driver’s license) 12) EMAIL ADDR: Enter their email address. 13) Click “Save/Close” on the top menu. 14) Ready for checkout. Enter their name in the Circulation desk field like a normal JAC-less checkout. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  21. Changing a Due Date • Scan the patron’s JAC or enter their name in the Circulation Desk. • Scan the item barcode. • Click the “Change Due Date” button on the “Check-Out” tab. • If you are an undergrad, you will need a staff member or GA to use their credentials • Enter your initials. • Enter the new due date. • 6 ) Click the “OK” button • Inform the patron of their new due date OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  22. Place a Hold On a Book 1) Select “Search/Holds” in the Millennium menu. 2) Type the item title in the white box. 3) Select the desired title. 4) Click on the “Hold Selected Item” button. 5) In the “Search for Patron” box window, Click on the “. Record #” dropdown menu. 6) Pick the “N NAME” option. 7) Type the patron’s last name in the white box. Click “Search” 8) Pick “Place Hold” 9) Select the desired pickup location. 10) Close the record. The item will be sent to the pickup location in the next delivery. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  23. What to do with an Item Paging Slip? Find the book on the shelves. Check in the book. Place the book “In Transit” to the proper location. Print the transit slip and put in the book. Put the book in the delivery white bin. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  24. Checking In an Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary loans are not checked in/out using Millennium. Put the book in the white delivery bin. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!

  25. Checking-Out an Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary loans are not checked in/out using Millennium. Remove the item from the Hold shelf. Do not desensitize the item, just hand it to the patron. OK, I’m done with this task, take me back to the main menu!
