  2. Sheep! • What do you know about sheep? • The people in Jesus’ day knew a lot about sheep! • Even in towns • Jesus talked a lot about sheep

  3. The door of the sheepfold • Land in Israel is dry • Shepherds often left home with sheep to find grass • Often had to sleep outside at night • Found a cave, or • Built a sheep pen • This is a sheepfold • How did the shepherd keep the sheep in the pen when he slept?

  4. The door of the sheep fold (cont.) • John 10:7 • Jesus is the way to safety • John 8:44 • Satan is a liar and murderer • Wants to trick us into thinking we’re safe with him

  5. False saviours • John 10:8 • Other men came and acted as the deliverer • Satan uses tricks to make us follow his ways • They look good • Their end is death • Truth • Found only in the Bible

  6. Jesus, the only door • John 10:9 • Only one door to sheepfold • Remember Noah’s ark • John 10:10 • Satan wants to destroy • But tries to convince you that he’ll make you happy • Jesus gives life fully • John 6:35 • Life that truly satisfies

  7. Jesus, the good shepherd • John 10:11 • Jewish leaders would not believe He was saviour, wanted to kill Him • Jesus is like a shepherd that dies for His sheep • Isaiah 53:4-5 • Prophecy: saviour would suffer and die for us • Promises about Jesus’ life came true

  8. Jesus: the way, the truth, the life • John 14:6 • The way • The only way to God and everlasting life • The truth • Came to tell us God’s message • All truth • Jesus cannot lie • The life • The only one who can save us

  9. Conclusion • There is only one God • One Saviour • For the whole world • For you • For me • There is no other way to be saved 1
