Introduction • Where did God place Adam after He created Him? • What two very important trees did God also place in the garden of Eden? • God told Adam that he must not eat of the fruit of which tree? • What did God say would happen to man if he disobeyed and ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

  3. Introduction (continued) • What did God mean when He said that man would die? • Whom did God create for Adam after He placed Adam in the garden of Eden? • Why did God create Eve?

  4. Life in the Garden of Eden • Life was perfect • They had everything they needed • God was their friend • They had perfect friendship with each other • What about Satan? • He knew about God’s warning to Adam • He hated God, wanted to destroy man • Satan planned to deceive Eve

  5. Satan deceived Eve • Genesis 3:1 • That was no snake! • Satan is a deceiver • He didn’t tell Eve who he really was • John 8:44 • Satan can appear as an “angel of light”

Satan still deceives people • Satan is still trying to deceive and destroy people. • He disguises himself in clever ways • He speaks right into people’s minds • He uses his angels too • He doesn’t want anyone to believe in God • He puts ideas in our minds, like: “Why should I believe the Bible?” • He lies to us and tricks us

  7. Satan still deceives people (cont.) • He makes evil look like good • He wants to destroy us • His lies are anything that… • Tells you to rebel against authority • Predicts the future • Makes evil seem good or good evil • Denies God or the truth of the Bible

Satan tempted and deceived Eve • Genesis 3:1 • Why did Satan ask Eve this question? • Genesis 3:2,3 • Satan had already confused Eve • Her answer was not what God had said • God’s command was for both Adam and Eve • Genesis 3:4,5 • Satan was calling God a liar • Satan is really the liar • What was behind Satan’s lie? • Here is the truth: God made us to be guided by His Word!

  9. Eve ate and also gave the fruit to Adam • Genesis 3:6 • Satan deceived Eve • Adam disobeyed too • Did God have the right to rule over Adam? • Does God have the right to tell us what to do?

Signs of Separation from God • Signs of separation: • Their attitude toward their bodies changed immediately • They tried to provide their own needs • God does not accept us based on our appearance • I Samuel 16:7 • Sin brings fear and shame – makes people turn away from God • Had they been warned of what would happen if they sinned? • Were they able to hide from God?
