In 2009, in Tallinn, Mieke van Waaijenburg and Loek Mak-Peters established a Support Advisory Team (SAT) to assist a child with severe behavioral, learning, and social-emotional challenges. The school lacked expertise, so the involvement of SAT was crucial. Participants included special elementary school staff, healthcare professionals, and social workers. SAT coordinated support decisions based on expert opinions, ensuring a coherent approach to meeting the child's needs.
