  5. MacOS X 10.7 • Currently purchased bulk through eStores • Agreements have been cleared up: click-through and acceptance of PO terms allowed • Some departments do not require 20 copies (min. purchase via eStores) • How are departments getting fewer copies? • Would centralized distribution solve issues? • Should we pursue full licenses, or upgrade licenses?

  6. Adobe ELA/TSL/CLP • Purchasing and Site Licensing renewed discussions with Adobe regarding the ELA and TSL • ELA – Enterprise License Agreement: For discount licensing of Creative Suites, based on FTE • TSL – Term Site License: For discount licensing of Acrobat Professional only, based on FTE • CLP – Cumulative Licensing Program: OSU’s current Adobe agreement, allows purchase of all products with optional maintenance. Each product is one-off. Ends 4/6/12 • Licenses are subscription-based (you can’t take them with you) on ELA and TSL. CLP licenses are perpetual.

  7. MATLAB Renewal • MATLAB renewal accomplished August 15 • 15 days prior to expiration • Last year, codes became available Sept. 29, 2 days before hard fail • Hard fail for all unrenewed copies TODAY • New codes available now from the IT Service Desk.

  8. AutoDesk Renewal • AutoDesk renewal has been a challenge • Renewal in place, codes available for 2010, 2011, 2012 • Old codes failing within days, warnings currently displayed • Two sets of 2011 media available (currently checked out) • 2012 media now available • Renewal price $91/copy for AutoCAD, $91/copy for 3ds Max

  9. SAS Renewal • SAS has offered new contract terms for Teaching and Research licenses • Unlimited installations • Unlimited student home use • Unlimited server use • Linux desktop option added • Removal of SAS Genetics • New Solution: FY12: $59,033; FY13: $66,533 • This will result in cost changes in FY12 and FY13 ($10-12 total increase) • New addendum to agreement • SAS Admin use remains unchanged

  10. WSUS Training • SECWOG in October will focus on these products: • Oct. 6, Mechanical Engineering E100, 3:30-5PM: WSUS setup and support topics (agenda still forming)

  11. New OCIO SLS Pages • On August 31, OCIO launched a re-designed site • http://ocio.osu.edu/software • OSU SLS and the OCIO Software Directory become one page • All software is listed • Coming software, new versions, and software marked for potential/certain retirement are notated

  12. Questions/Comments

  13. Apple Volume Purchasing Plan • The VPP is designed for the purchase of bulk apps (20 or more) • VPP’s involve the purchase of “really big iTunes gift cards” (denominations of $500, $1,000, or $5,000) • Allows the creation of non-credit-card accounts • Accounts are hierarchical and the top-level account can assign out cash to subaccounts. • Allows avoidance of the T’s & C’s • Site Licensing is working with Purchasing to determine if OCIO SLS is the proper administrator for this plan • OSU Purchasing has indicated that the iTunes terms are not “click-thru-able” for University staff; SLS is working on clarification of this information
