  1. James T. Alton Middle School The mission of JTAs STLP group is to engage every student through the use of technology with student-lead technology programming.

  2. How do Students join STLP? Goal 2 STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students How students sign up? ANY student at JTA can sign up for our STLP Club. There is NO fee involved. The student must simply, fill out a form and get parent permission in case we have after school activities. When does STLP meet? We try to meet with STLP every other Friday.

  3. James T. Alton has STLP students in grades 6 - 8 JTA, STLP students waiting to go in the STLP Regional Competition together at Western Kentucky University

  4. Goal 2The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. JTA Total STLP Students Total Number of STLP participants 40 7- news crew 10 LMC aides 15 – photography class 8 – JS2S James T Alton Total Population 690+ We have a very diverse school environment at JTA. With being so close to an Army Post, we also have a very transient student body.

Publicizing our Accomplishents JTA shares our STLP accomplishments through our school newsletters, our local newspaper, on HCETV, through our school and district website, and by participation in local, district, and regional showcases Here is an example of our STLP photography students taking photos to be entered in the county newspaper.

  6. JTA Showcases Information pertaining to awards, certificates, trophies, or other accomplishments garnered through STLP. We held our own Photography competition in order to pick only 6 to represent JTA at the Spring Showcase. Teachers came in on their planning time and scored the students work based on the state rubric. The 6 on the ledge in the photo were the chosen students that we sent in to compete. Then we created a display in the main hallway to showcase all the student’s work.

Current JTA, STLP Projects • Yearbook (this is a very involved project, taking the entire school year) • PR- Showing off our school • School Newscast • Photographing and writing articles for other school events • Creating the video or slide show for Academic team(used on HCETV) • Photography Class

  8. JTA School News Broadcasts Goal 1 The STLP will develop activities which enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student. Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. The School Name news team produces a live news broadcast for the school each morning. STLP members serving on the news crew arrive at school 30-40 minutes early to work on the daily broadcast. News is presented for our school as well as announcements of high school and community activities. The crew consists of students from all grade levels , with older students training younger students.

Goal 3Students will participate in multi-age collaboration by forming innivative learning partnerships.Goal 4The STLP will form learning partnerships among students with different technology skills. • The crew consists of students from all grade levels , with older students training younger students. • Student directors work with students of varying technological skill levels to create continually add to and enhance existing skills.

  10. Goal 5The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities The James T. Alton news broadcasts provides a forum for communities events ranging from performances at the PAC, to community wide events such as blood drives, and Walk-For-Life. JS2S Group – Developed a “Behind the Scenes” video to welcome new students to JTA .

  11. Multiple slides of Descriptions and Pictures of students doing work listed on previous slides Goal 6 The STLP will develop instructional activities which integrates technology and benefits the school and supports KETS.

  12. Ways that we Promote JTA Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. Goal 5 The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities. STLP students are given the opportunity to show off our school by taking pictures of special events and activities at our school. The pictures and articles are often posted in the Hardin county local newspaper. This gives the community and other students the opportunity to enjoy the happenings at James T Alton. STLP students who are preparing for the state competition in the Fall choose a topic that is important to them and effects their community.

Student Participation at Local, District, and State Level • JTA, STLP was able to travel to our regional showcase at WKU (aka Barren Co HS) to Participate with 2 showcases. • We are participating in the Winter Photography competition at the state level of STLP • We have 1 showcase that made it to the State Competition in Spring 2014!!! Yippiieeeeee!!!

  14. James T. Alton STLP Vision For The Future • JTA will continue to include more students and faculty in our STLP group. • JTA will promote the good news about our school more actively and involve more technology in the articles.
