WHAT DO TEAMS DO? • Team teachers meet and talk about student issues and hold parent conferences when necessary • They have quarterly honor roll celebrations • They go on field trips • The teams classes are in the same hallway • Sometimes they have team t-shirts to show their team spirit • They are like a family!

HOMEWORK is Important! • You should be doing at least one hour of homework and review your notes each night to do your best! • You can stay after school with a Teacher for help! “Homework Lab” • Record your homework in your planner each day! • Plan ahead: Let your family know when you need materials in advance!

  15. CHOOSING CLASSES! Every 7th grade student will take 5 required classes: English, US History, Science, Math and PE! Current price for PE uniform: $10.25

  18. ELECTIVES • There are 8 class periods. The first five are chosen for you: (English, History, Science, Math and PE). Another period is Hawk Time. • You get 2 class periods with ELECTIVES. You can choose year-long electives or half year electives. HERE ARE YOUR CHOICES….. 2 Year long electives OR 1 Year long elective and 2 half year electives OR 4 half year electives

World Languages Options • Introduction to Foreign Languages: semester class • Spanish Immersion 1 • Spanish 1 Part A • French 1 Part A • Eligibility Requirements for Enrollment • Spanish Immersion only for students from the Spanish Immersion program at Rose Hill Elementary • Students must have an “A” or a “B” in English and must have passed all Reading and Writing SOLs

Advanced Academics: Criteria to Consider • For English, Science, Math and History: Students have demonstrated high achievement, have good study habits, have an interest in learning and are seeking academic challenges. • For Math 7 Honors: it is an acceleration of the mathematics curriculum which requires students to master the content assessed on the Math 8 SOL. Students who have not completed Advanced Mathematics 6 may need support and /or require additional effort and study to be successful. • Algebra 1 Honors Requirements • Advanced Math in 6th grade • IAAT (Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test) score above 91st percentile • Score of 500+ on Math 7 SOL

  23. School counselors will start visiting elementary schools for academic advisement beginning tomorrow. Please review and sign the “Course Selection Sheet” that your student will bring home and have them return it to their school counselor the next day.Your students will get to visit us in March!
