Key Historical Events • Jehoiachim • Placed on throne by Pharoah-Neco in 609BC II Kings 23:34-37 • Subjected to Nebchadnezzar in 609BC II Kings 24:1 • First captives taken in 605BC after Babylonian defeat of Egypt at Carchemish • Raids by Chaldeans, Moabites, Ammonites and Syrians “And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldees…Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah” II Kings 24:1-3 • Jehoiachin (Coniah) • Began brief reign of three months in 598BC following Jehoiakim • Taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar in 597BC II Kings 24:10-12 • Elite class also taken captive II Kings 24:14-16 • Ezekiel taken captive with this group Eze 1:1-2
