  2. George Stephenson the inventor of a train for travellers in 1825. In 1825, new stage : Stephenson designed a machine that cruises at 30 kilometres per hour. The day of inauguration of the Stockton-Darlington line, there was a wagon with musicians : that was also the first train designed to transport people.

  5. The mythical trains The famous transcontinental such as the Orient Express or the Transsiberian which feed regularly litterature and fascinate the curious. Trains definitely not like the others! Transsiberian Orient Express

  6. The Transsiberian Here is the Transsiberian line. It Connects Moscow to Vladivostok. It was created in 1891 by Emperor Alexander III : it takes a week to travel the 9288 km.

  7. The Orient Express The Orient Express is a luxury train which, in 1883, started to connect Paris, Vienna, Istanbul, Milan and Munich, passing through several European capitals.

  9. High Speed train lines in Europe High speed trains that travel throughout Europe. The purple and red lines show the fastest sections. This map shows how long it takes to get to various cities using the High Speed trains. For example, it takes 2 hours to reach Naples from Roma.

  12. This is the train line that travels between Beijing and Guangzhou that opened on 26th December 2012 . It has a length of 2298 km , the longest high speed train line in the world !

  13. Some records concerning trains… The highest : in China goes up to 5068m opening up Tibet

  14. The fastest : the French TGV running at 574.8km/h

  15. The longest : 2.5 km in Mauritania, 200 wagons carryingiron ore in the desert to the Atlantic ocean

  16. The biggest station : Central station in New York
