Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) accounts for 20% of all strokes, divided equally between hemorrhagic types—half being SAH and the other half intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The average case fatality rate for SAH is alarmingly high at 51%. Notably, about 10% of patients succumb before reaching a hospital, 25% die within the first 24 hours, and 45% do not survive beyond 30 days. Of those who do survive, over one third experience significant neurological deficits. Understanding these statistics is crucial for awareness and prevention of SAH.
