Current Event: “Supreme Court says dying victim's statement can be used in court” Supreme Court ruled that a shooting victim’s statement to the police at a crime scene can be used in court if the victim later dies and cannot testify at trial. Rulings by high court disagree with the decision because of the 6th Amendment

Connection “…the Constitution strictly forbids prosecutors from using “hearsay” statements to the police unless the witness testifies.” “The 6th Amendment say an accused person has the right to be “confronted with the witnesses against him.” The recent rulings of the high court suggest that this is not constitutional because the victim is the witness that must testify in court against the criminal. If the victim dies before testifying in court, even if they have a statement made outside of court, it could be seen as unconstitutional
