  2. Lake Roosevelt National Recreation • The mighty Columbia River has drawn people to its waters for over 9,000 years. Historically the rich fishery of the river was used for survival and prosperity. Today Lake Roosevelt’s visitors continue to enjoy the river’s recreational offerings of fishing, camping, hunting and boating. Visit Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area and experience life on the river past and present.

  3. Hunting • Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is one of a few National Park Service units to allow hunting. Hunting within the boundaries of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is a recognized recreational activity at times and locations designated as open for hunting.

  4. Camping • The National Park Service offers 27 public campgrounds on the shores of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area has 27 public campgrounds and boat-in-only campgrounds. Facilities vary in each and are listed in the chart below. Some campgrounds have individual sites, as well as large group sites that can be reserved. Individual sites have a fire ring, picnic table and paved parking pads that are either pull-through or back-in pads. Campgrounds have sites that will fit most large RVs. There are no hook-ups in any of the campgrounds.

  5. Climate • A dry, sunny climate predominates at Lake Roosevelt in the summer months. As you go father north, it becomes cooler and wetter. In the summer temperatures range from 75° to 100°F during the day, and from 50° to 60° at night. Spring and fall are cooler but still pleasant. The weather can be dramatically different from one end of the lake to the other.

  6. Boating • The National Park Service offers 22 public boat launches on long the shores of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area has 22 public boat launches and offers a wide variety of boating experiences for every type of watercraft from canoes to sailboats. Seasonal fluctuations regularly affect lake levels and access to boat launch facilities.
