UPADI/API EDUCATION COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES • Raymond Issa attended WG2 meeting Buenos Aries 17-18 June 2013 • Conducted Education Workshop in Medellin 22 August 2013 • Shared Vision 2030 ( ASME, https://community.asme.org/board_education/w/wiki/7883.asme-vision-2030-project.aspxsource) • Seeking to work with Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI) • Participate in WG2 web conference calls • Observer attended LAACEI meeting Cancun August 2013

UPADI/API EDUCATION COMMITTEE • Supports Initiation of the Pan American Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship • Urges action by COMYCT to increase internet connectivity, in the Americas for industry, government & university communication to effect EftA • Encourages use of Massive Open On-line Courses (MOOCs) MOOCs depend on high quality/speed internet connectivity

  5. UPADI/API EDUCATION COMMITTEE • Endorses the WG2 survey • Supports WG2 Proposed Mobility Program to increase graduates in Science, Technology, Engineering and Technical Education • Conducted a Workshop in Medellin

UPADI/API EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEETING 14-16 AUGUST SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA UPADI/API Invites: WG2 to develop joint 1- day conference program for Bolivia LACCEI to develop 1- day conference program for Bolivia In order for progress to be made key industries must be at the meeting. Funding for major initiatives such as ubiquitous high quality internet connectivity will only come from industry, in partnership with government and academia
